MR. WEST
I'm Mr. West and I love to teach. I've earned a Bachelor's degree in Education from Bloomsburg University and a Master's degree in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment from Walden University. I am currently seeking an additional certification through McDaniel College.
I come to Ducketts Lane Elementary School after spending the last 14 years at Waterloo Elementary School where I taught 3rd and 5th grades before becoming a G/T teacher. I hate being boring. Former students have described me as unique, different, outside of the box, energetic, and "not like other teachers". I accept all of those as compliments.
I expect GREAT things from my students and will challenge them each and everyday to be thinkers and not robots. I am rarely seen in school without an iPad in my hands and love educational technologies. I am rarely seen outside of school without flip flops and love everything that the beach has to offer. I am an avid bird watcher (Orioles and Ravens) and enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I am very excited to be a part of the Ducketts Lane community!

Mrs. Martinelli
I’m Katie Martinelli. I have lived in Maryland for 6 years now, moving here from Buffalo, New York to attend JHU. I earned a Masters degree in Mind, Brain, and Teaching and Gifted Education. I have come to love all that Maryland and its communities have to offer.
This is my fifth year as a teacher and my first as a GT Resource Teacher. I truly enjoy working with students and their families everyday. My favorite subject matter to teach is anything that inspires children to explore the world around them. As a teacher, I challenge all students to think for themselves, set high expectations, and believe in their abilities. I am so excited to be a part of such a fabulous team, school, and community!

Sign up for the G/T Contact List
The DLES G/T program is like any other program whereby parental support at home and in school is appreciated. Placing yourself on the G/T Contact List, will provide a quick opportunity for the G/T Resource Teachers to contact you should they need assistance.
